CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
Healthcare Governance for UHC: Bridging the Policy and Practice Gap
BACK GROUND
The Kenya Medical Association (KMA) is a membership organization for doctors and dentists registered to practice in Kenya established in 1968 with a mandate of improving health care management in Kenya and the region.
The association amongst other activities holds scientific conferences every year with different themes based on emerging changes and development in the healthcare industry. These conferences contribute to the professional development of doctors as well as improving healthcare in general. Scientific papers and researches are presented and discussed during the conferences and thereafter policies and resolutions formulated based around the discussions. These conferences have been held without fail for the last 52 years.
On behalf of the Kenya Medical Association (KMA), we wish to invite all persons who want to report original research, innovative projects or novel programs related to "Healthcare Governance for UHC: Bridging the Policy and Practice Gap" to submit abstracts to be considered for presentation during the forthcoming conference which will be held in 14th to 17th April, 2025 at Kamel Park Hotel ~ Kisii County.
All abstract presentations will be made in either the Poster Format or Oral Format (10-12 minute presentation). Abstract authors are asked to indicate a preference for Poster v. Oral but conference organizers will assign the final format.
Abstracts In All Areas Are Welcome & Collected Through the Following Sub-Themes:
- Healthcare reforms, health systems governance & global health governance
- Health governance and supply of pharmaceutical and non- pharmaceutical products
- Digital health and e-governance: Innovations and implementations
- One health governance of Anti-microbial resistance
- Governance and Research in addressing communicable and non-communicable diseases
- Public- Private Partnerships, significance in healthcare governance

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
The maximum word count for abstract submissions is 200 words. Supplemental materials (photos, articles or reports) are not accepted and will not be seen by the program review committee.
The submitting author will receive an email message confirming the receipt of the abstract.
- Scientific Abstracts as well as Project/Program Abstracts can be submitted for review.
- Abstracts may be submitted for oral or poster presentations. Authors may indicate a preference for oral or poster presentation but all decisions will be made by the scientific planning committee whose determination is final.
- To be selected for Oral Presentation, abstract content must not have been previously published as an abstract, paper or manuscript. Previously published material is discouraged, but qualifies, for consideration for poster presentation.
- Where hopeful presenters have submitted multiple abstracts, conference organizers will make all efforts to ensure that presenters are not invited to present more than one abstract.
- All abstracts must be submitted in English.
- Abstracts must be submitted online (abstracts@kma.co.ke)
- Abstracts' maximum word count is 200 words.
- Abstract titles are allowed up to 250 characters (including spaces) and should NOT be all caps.
- All abstracts must be structured to fit within the provided fields
- Marketing pitches will not be accepted
- Panel /workshop proposals should be submitted through the appropriate form, please visit www.kma.co.ke for more information about the submission form
Only abstracts that comply with all the above guidelines will be considered for presentation.

All abstract presenters must REGISTER ONLINE (www.kma.co.ke) and pay the registration fee.
ABSTRACT REVIEW
- All abstracts that follow submissions guidelines will be reviewed and selected by the scientific planning committee.
- Notifications will be emailed only to the contact person who submitted the abstract submission.
- Presentation formats (oral or poster) will be assigned to accepted abstracts by the scientific planning committee.
- All decisions are final.
- Proposals constituting sales pitches for products or services will not be considered.
