Vision: The Reproductive Health Committee (RHC) envisions a Kenya with all women enjoying and accessing sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR) to the fullest extent possible.

 

Mission: To advocate for and ensure that policies, services, information and research on SRHR are people friendly and equitable to all irrespective of gender, age, social, cultural, religious and or economic class diversity.

 

Objectives:

  1. Promote the practice of reproductive health in Kenya

  2. Partner with The Government through the relevant ministry (s), the community and other agencies on sexual and reproductive health and rights

  3. Promote gender equity in all social and development issues

  4. Advocate for increased SRHR and gender equity in sexual and reproductive health

  5. Conduct research and consultancies in SRHR and related programmes

  6. Ensure that every woman and or her partner is aware of her reproductive rights and health needs and can access the most up to date information and can realize her reproductive rights by accessing quality services

  7. Reduce gender-based violence and coercion including female genital mutilation, rape and other sexual offences

 Prof. Boaz Otieno Nyunya - Reproductive Health Committe Convenor  

Prof. Boaz Otieno-Nyunya, M.D. is an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, a board-certified Consultant Obs/Gyn and currently serves as the Associate Director for Programmes at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Kenya. For over 25 years Prof. Otieno-Nyunya has worked in the reproductive health space, specializing in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights including Family Planning, Advanced Life Support Obstetrics, Comprehensive Abortion Care, SGBV, STDs and HIV prevention, treatment and care. He has presented, taught, and developed programs on such issues and articulated the need for more sexual and reproductive health support in Kenya. Prof. Otieno-Nyunya holds an MMed degree in Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as an MBChB in Medicine and Surgery, both from the University of Nairobi. He is a‎ fellow of Contraceptive Technology Research as well as International Medical Education and Research.
