Regional SRHR Fund Adolescent and Youth SRHR Inclusive Access Initiative
Youth as Change Agents: Developing Proficiency in Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health Research for Youth Researchers (KMA- YRA)
Project Start Date
July 2024

About the Project
The project aims to train young doctors and medical students in Kenya to address the evidence gap in Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASRHR) challenges.
To strengthen advocacy and networking skills of young doctors and medical students in ASRHR across East Africa.
Who it targets:
Young Doctors and medical students aged 19-24 years
Why it matters:
To bridge the gap in medical education, our initiative focuses on empowering medical students in Kenya. Recognizing the lack of SRHR evidence generated by young people, the project aims to bridge this gap through comprehensive training and research opportunities. By enhancing the capacity of medical students in ASRHR research, we seek to directly address the non-participation of young people in research activities in the country.
Objectives
- Strengthen the advocacy and networking skills of young doctors and medical students in ASRHR in Kenya.
- Establish an online community for knowledge and experience sharing on ASRHR content, research findings, and promoting evidence-based practices amongst young doctors and medical students in East Africa.
- Enhance the capacity of young doctors and medical students in Kenya ASRHR research through in-person and virtual training activities.

Project Activities
- In- Person Workshops
- Virtual / online training webinars
- Proposal development by Young researchers
- Proposals submitted to IRB for ethical approvals
- Publish research abstracts through EAMJ
- Project reports dissemination in scientific conferences
