Established in 1962 with headquarters at Marlborough House in London, the Commonwealth Medical Association (CMA) represents National Medical Associations across 54 member nations spanning six regions. The CMA’s mission is to strengthen the capacity of national medical associations to improve health, healthcare access, and well-being across the Commonwealth.
About the 28th CMA Conference
This year, the Kenya Medical Association (KMA) will host the 28th CMA Conference in Nairobi, Kenya, from November 12–14, 2026. This flagship three-day event brings together global health leaders, medical professionals, and policymakers to foster international collaboration, share ground-breaking healthcare insights, and shape the future of medicine across member states.

Welcome to the 28th Commonwealth Medical Association International General Meeting and Conference and thank you for joining us.
The Young Doctors’ pre-conference opens on 12 November 2026, followed by the main conference on 13 and 14 November. Clinicians, researchers, policymakers and partners from across the Commonwealth will gather around one urgent question: how do we build health systems strong enough for an era of pandemics and climate change?
Our theme, “Building Resilient Health Systems: Advancing Prevention, Preparedness, and Partnerships in an Era of Pandemics and Climate Change.” has taken on new weight this year.
In view of the understandable concerns of many international colleagues following the Bundibugyo Ebola outbreak in the region, the organisers took the precautionary decision to move the conference online. We will miss welcoming you to Nairobi, but every colleague can now take part with confidence, wherever they are.
The pre-conference, led by the CMA Young Doctors’ Forum and the KMA Young Doctors’ Network, explores how AI, digital health, medical education and lifelong learning can shape future-ready doctors.
The main conference focuses on four connected priorities: infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance and pandemic preparedness; climate change, planetary health and One Health; strengthening health systems and the health workforce; and partnerships, policy and governance for global health security.
For KMA, hosting this conference reflects our commitment to the CMA family and to collaboration across our region and the wider Commonwealth. No single country or institution can meet these threats alone.
